Summer 2013 Cake Trends: Natural And Unfrosted Wedding Cakes

Wedding cake trends are much like fashion trends - some years brides look for formal cakes and cakes with intricate details, and some years, brides go for a simpler, cleaner, more "natural" cake. The 2013 summer wedding cake trends are leaning towards natural wedding cakes, also sometimes called "naked" wedding cakes.


And like fashion, natural wedding cakes come in and out of fashion. They're not new. Hillary Duff's wedding cake was "naked" in her 2010 fairy tale wedding theme, as was Victoria Beckham's 1999 wedding cake.

Natural cakes tend to be without frosting and are often adorned with fruits and flours. Not only are they simply elegant, but they can also be a healthier option and a respectful nod to special guests who may have special dietary needs.
